As the evening comes to a close I’m proud to say that I’ve finally completed Day 60 of my fourth 60 day juice fast! It has been quite a journey but to tell you the truth this has been the easiest of all the fasts. It certainly seems to get easier each time.
Tomorrow I’ll begin my morning with one of my favorite breakfast burritos as we enter the winter break just in time for the holiday. The following day I’ll begin my workout regime as I enter Phase II into the New Year with ‘Muscle Development and Definition’. This is where I take complete advantage of all my awesome weight loss and develop it further into a lean body. Naturally I’ll be incorporating juicing into this change of pace and I’ll be keeping a log of progress.
Speaking of logs within the next week or so I plan to start posting my data from my Intestinal Bloat Study that I started after my 3rd 60 day juice fast as well as the information from my 4th 60 day juice fast. I’ve had a sneak peak of the compiled data and it is quite amazing!
Lastly I am also starting the rough draft of my book - which is a more comprehensive compilation of my blog along with raw data, pictures, etc.
Here are the final simple comparative stats across all my 60 day juice fasts on Day 60:
Juice Fast #1: 47.30
Juice Fast #2: 36.30
Juice Fast #3: 36.80
Juice Fast #4: 39.30
... certainly better than average!
If you have any questions whatsoever please do not hesitate to contact me.
This is the perfect way to start the 2013 New Year! :)
A bowl of blackberries for my morning fruit juice
I've just completed Day 45 this evening!
Now I only have 15 days to go before completing my 4th 60 day juice fast.
Since the last 15 days I've lost 7.1lbs.
Below is Day 45 across all of my four juice fasts in terms of weight loss:
Juice Fast #1 : 39.20 lbs
Juice Fast #2 : 30.40 lbs
Juice Fast #3 : 31.40 lbs
Juice Fast #4 : 33.30 lbs
The progress is still looking fantastic!
This is my nightly juice bar where I juice in batches!
I just completed Day 30 today - this is the halfway point and everything seems to be going by very quickly. This is the first time I'll be encountering a well celebrated holiday and not consuming solids. That's right I'll be powering through Turkey Day on juice alone. I can buy a turkey anytime when I've completed my juice fast if I felt like it however my mission is to comlpete this 4th 60-day juice fast.
So far I've lost 26.2lbs - that's an additional 6.7 pounds lost since 15 days ago. My previous stats on day 30 are as follows 29.10, 23.10, 23.40. Again the rate is better than average. Next stop 15 days from now.
Here I am preparing a bunch of Spinach by washing it first!
Day 15 has come and gone on my fourth 60-day juice fast and honestly it feels like I'm only a few days in.
I've decided to keep the stats nice and simple this time around and in these 15 days I've lost 19.5lbs! Compared to my three previous 60-day juice fasts I'm way ahead (18.4,15.2,16.4). I'm quite interested to see where I'll be on Day 30! :)
Yummy Green Juice
This is the fourth 60 day juice fast I've started this year... I'm quite excited to see it through.
Day 1 has come and gone.
I had my breakfast juice (apples, strawberries and oranges) around 6AM, my lunch juice (spinach, cucumber, sweet peppers, carrots, habaneros and apples) around 12PM and my dinner juice (same as lunch) around 4PM… normally I'd have dinner around 6PM but noticed I started to get the feeling of hunger earlier than usual so I drank my dinner juice early. During making the batch for Day 2 I was sure to drink the 'overflow' (which was about 2 cups of juice) - as towards the end of the juice making my mouth was seriously salivating so gulps were had!
For the most part things went quite smooth. Things at work were quite busy so I didn't have a chance really to think about eating.
During my juice fasts I cut down on the liquid intake and try to focus more on the juice - while consuming solids I make sure I am drinking water constantly. So during this evacuation period that normally occurs during the first week (around the first three days) I'm expecting to lose quite a bit of water weight.
Organic Red Kale is quite fragrant - used for Day 2!
This Monday October 22nd begins my 4th 60day juice fast this year...
It will complete Friday December 21st 2012 - just in time for the holiday.
This afternoon (right before dinner juice) I checked the scales and then checked my logs to see that I have gone back in time about 6 days now from the two days of juicing. If you aren't sure what I'm talking about picture this.
For each day that I ate solids I'd gain pounds on the scale (i.e. a pound or two, sometimes even four). When I'm fasting the pounds seem to shed quickly - seriously like almost ten pounds in less than two days - based on the evening most (right after dinner) and the morning most (right before breakfast). Lots of water retention followed by solid BMs.
During eating solids I make sure I'm well hydrated and drinking a lot of water to make sure things keep flowing. When I'm juice-fasting I cut back external water and rely on the 32oz servings of juice three times a day for my water intake.
I only recommend what you do is comfortable in your lifestyle but this is quite comfortable for me.
Kale in a masticating auger
Today I commenced a small 5 day juice fast (I call them mini-juice-fasts) September 4th - 5th (which is 14 days from my 3rd day 60) and now into my 28th day since my 3rd day 60 I am engaging another mini-juice-fast which I am estimating to be at least 5 days and up to 7 days.
After completing the lengthy fasts the mini-juice-fasts seem to go very quickly almost feeling insignificant. However it certainly does alleviate "intestinal bloat" from consuming solids during the in-between-times.
I'm carefully logging my weight daily at the same time each day (after morning bladder/bowel evacuation) to be as consistent as possible. I'll publish these in the stats section after I've completed this new experiment but for now I can say that this "intestinal bloat" has been between 16 and 18.9 pounds.
This bloat range consists of liquids and solids that have entered my body within the last 28 days since my 3rd 60 day juice fast completed. The most uncomfortable part of this is feeling so distended. Even if it isn't as noticeable from the outside I can feel it. I've also purposely had updated my wardrobe with smaller clothing that fit great at my max loss; but when in "bloat mode" I can feel the fabric entering its limits.
During my mini-fasts the body begins to deflate and overall feel better, and then my clothes begins to feel looser.
My ultimate goal with these experiments is to maintain a specific weight with lessening deltas through greater periods of time using a hybrid of juicing and solids.
Additionally I have withheld from engaging in an exercise program until I fully understand this.
Updates to follow...
I'm feeling like a golden beet right now...
Note: It has been 17 days since my last update (and 12 days since I've completed my 3rd 60 day juice fast). It's been quite busy these last few weeks but have some time to update this blog today (September 1st 2012)
I finally completed my 3rd 60 day juice fast!
I've lost 36.80lbs and my final official weight was 168lbs (18lbs shy of my 150lb goal I set in January).
Here is the final side-by-side comparison:
Day SEQ WGHT LOSS Date Stamp Fast
60 208 168.0 36.80 2012/08/20 3
60 134 187.7 36.30 2012/06/07 2
60 060 214.7 47.30 2012/03/25 1
I began my journey at 262lbs and ended at 168 with a total loss of 94lbs!
During my journey I've learned a lot about juicing and health. I'll be updating this site with more information, and continue to monitor my weight as I enter the hybrid juicing and solid world. I will be incorporating juicing into my daily 'normal' life and attempt to drink at least juice twice per day (most often breakfast and dinner). I am also looking into entering a workout regime to keep the weight down and to continue to lose weight to meet my ultimate weight goal.
I've updated the stats and graphs page with the completed data as well as the personal blog portion of an event I attended last week where I got to meet Joe Cross from Fat Sick and Nearly Dead and got to personally thank him for sharing his documentary with the world, and saving my life. :)
Golden Beets, Peppers, Cucumbers
